Newsbound in Claude and ChatGPT

What this is

Newsbound works inside Claude and ChatGPT. Add it once as a connector, sign in with your Newsbound email, and from then on you run your PR by chatting: see what’s waiting for you, read your newsfeed, take a story through to an approved pitch, start a trade pitch, a podcast pitch or an announcement, answer an expert request, and check how your program is doing.

It’s the same Newsbound through a new door. Everything you do in the chat lands in your account exactly as if you’d done it on the website, and everything that goes to a journalist still passes through the Newsbound team first. Nothing is ever sent from the chat.

Before you start

You need two things: a live Newsbound account (onboarding finished, email set up) and a Claude or ChatGPT account.

Claude

ChatGPT

Where to find it

Customize, then Connectors

Settings, then Connectors

On a team plan

An owner adds it for the workspace, then everyone connects with their own login

A workspace admin adds it, then everyone connects with their own login

Your login

Your own Newsbound email

Your own Newsbound email

Each person connects with their own login. A colleague can’t see your account through your connection.

Connecting from Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and find Newsbound. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner does this first under Organization settings, then Connectors.

  2. Press Connect and sign in on the Newsbound page that opens (see Signing in below).

  3. Start a new chat and check Newsbound is on in the tools menu next to the message box.

To stop, go back to Connectors and remove Newsbound. Nothing in your Newsbound account changes, and adding it again works the same way.

Connecting from ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Connectors, and find Newsbound. On a workspace plan an admin adds it first.

  2. Press Connect and sign in on the Newsbound page that opens.

  3. Start a new chat and choose Newsbound in the tools menu next to the message box.

To stop, remove Newsbound from Connectors. Your Newsbound account is untouched.

Signing in

The chat app opens a small Newsbound page. There’s no password and no link to click.

  • Already signed in to Newsbound in that browser: one click, Continue as you.

  • Not signed in: type the email you use with Newsbound. A 6-digit code arrives by email; type it on the same page. The code lasts 10 minutes and works once.

  • Then one click on Allow.

The connection stays until you remove the connector or Newsbound switches it off. If the page says the sign-in has expired, go back to the chat app and press Connect again.

What you can ask

Ask in your own words. The chat asks the same questions the website asks, in the same order. Where the website shows a list to pick from, you pick by name or number.

A few examples:

  • “What’s waiting for me in Newsbound?” Your Today list, today’s top stories, replies waiting, runs in progress.

  • “Show me today’s newsfeed.” / “Tell me more about the second story.”

  • “Pitch that story. My angle is: …” Then soundbites, spokesperson, media list, pitch, approve, the same steps as the website.

  • “What are this week’s trade topics?” / “Pitch the freight topic.”

  • “What podcasts are on my list this week?”

  • “Start an announcement: a funding round, embargoed, lifting on November 20.”

  • “Any expert requests for me?” / “I’ll answer the first one.”

  • “Where does the Acme run stand?” / “What runs do I have going?”

  • “How is my PR program doing?” Your dashboard numbers.

  • “Any replies from journalists?” Your inbox. Replying happens on the website; the chat gives you the link.

Where a step needs a file or a call (uploading a press release, booking the recap call), the chat gives you a link to that step on the website and you carry on there.

What it won’t do

For each of these, the chat says so and gives you the link to the right place.

You ask for

What happens

Send a pitch to a journalist, or reply to one

Never from the chat. Approving hands it to the Newsbound team, as on the website. Replies are in the Inbox on the website.

Change your brand hub or settings

Read-only in the chat. Change them on the website.

Delete or cancel a run, a campaign or an announcement

Ask the Newsbound team.

Upload or download a file

Not possible in a chat. The chat gives you the link to that step on the website.

Pay, change your plan, add or remove people, finish onboarding, set up email

On the website, or ask the Newsbound team.

Good to know

  • Nothing is sent from the chat. Approving or submitting hands a run to the Newsbound team, who review every pitch before any journalist or host is contacted, exactly as on the website.

  • It’s the same account. A run you start in the chat is on the website the moment you look, and the other way round.

  • What you say passes through the chat vendor. Your questions and Newsbound’s answers travel through Claude or ChatGPT under their terms, like anything else in that chat.

  • Each person has their own connection. It’s tied to your Newsbound login and sees only your company’s data.

  • Switch it off any time. Remove Newsbound in your chat app’s Connectors, or turn it off for a single chat in the tools menu.

If something goes wrong

You see

What to do

“You haven’t finished setting up Newsbound yet”

Finish onboarding on the website, or reconnect with the email you use on the website.

“Newsbound can’t run until your email is set up”

Your IT team completes that; the Newsbound team can help.

“The Newsbound connector is switched off for your account”

Get in touch with the Newsbound team.

“This sign-in has expired” on the sign-in page

Go back to the chat app and press Connect again.

“That code is not right”

Check the newest email. After five wrong tries, press Connect again.

The chat app says Newsbound isn’t responding

Check the tools menu. If it’s still stuck, remove Newsbound and add it again.

Anything else: write to support@newsbound.ai with what you asked and what the chat answered.
